Fields: Book Lists

Book Lists lets you select and name the book lists that you want to make available for profile Home page content. It also lets you assign localized names to lists that will match the user interface language.

Bestseller lists (those provided by a publication such as the New York Times) are not managed in Book Lists. They are made available to rooms in Add Rooms or Edit Rooms along with any custom lists.

General Configuration > Book Lists

Add Book List

Lets you create a custom "New Additions" list. For more information, see Creating a custom book list.

Edit Favorites List Names

Lets you edit the name (up to 80 characters) of a custom list in the default language and select which lists can be added to rooms. When you select a checkbox next to a list, the custom list is included in the Available list in Edit Room where you select which lists to include in a room (for more information, see Fields: Add/Edit Room).

For the book list name fields, you can also specify an alternate name for a specific language. Choose the language from the drop-down list of supported languages, then enter the localized name in the field.

Note: Note: If your web browser is configured to use a display language that is not supported by Enterprise and you have chosen to display the Admin console in a language other than the default language (en_US), the language that displays in the drop-down list of supported languages defaults to US English.

If a localized name already exists for a specific language, the software displays that language name differently in the drop-down list. When you enter a localized name for a specific language, the language name appears with a “++” suffix. If you clear the localized name for a specific language, the software displays the language name without the different formatting.

Use ISBN to search for books using the "Find in My Library" button (search by title and author when not selected)

Specifies that Portfolio will use the ISBN number with the book record or by provided the bestseller list source (such as the New York Times) to perform the "Find in My Library" search. If your library is outside the United States or you prefer to have the search use the author and title fields, disable this setting.

When Use ISBN to search for NY Times books is enabled, Portfolio uses the author and title search when an ISBN is not provided for a title.
